SPORTS UPDATE – Eagels Fall In Non-Region Game Against Wasatch

Fighting Eagle Fans…

Friday nights games were tough games! Our boys played hard but not hard enough. They were out rebounded and out scored by a great team. I feel like they did not take this game as serious as our previous games because this was not a region game. Wasatch Academy was a great team to play to figure out where we need to work out the wrinkles to get ready for the State playoffs. The boys and coaches are ready to begin 2 a day practices this upcoming week to prepare for the next chapter.

SPORTS UPDATE – Lady Eagle’s Season Comes To A Close

Our last game was against St. Joseph’s Academy. They came into the Eagle’s Nest holding the second place position in our region. We knew that our season was over regardless of what happened in the game.

During the JV game our girls came out playing hard. Our defense was great as we held them to only 10 points in the 1st half. Offensively we had a really hard time getting going. The score after the first half of the game was 10 – 4. In the second half we played the opposite way. Our defense was not as good, but we scored more points. Final JV score 34 – 13.

JV Scorers     Stephanie S (3), Jessi O (2), Michaela B (1), Amanda H (4), Cami D (3).

Things came together for the varstiy team in the last quarter of the last game. The score after the 3rd Quarter was 38 – 20. We were down by 18. Our offense came alive. We outscored St. Joe’s 18 – 6 in the final quarter. It was really fun to watch. The girls were playing great defense and they were moving the ball well on offense. As a coach, it made me wish that we had a few more games to play. The game, and our season ended as Alexa L. made a jumpshot from the wing. Our girls cheered as if we had won the game. It was a great way to end the season.

Varsity Scorers      Stephanie S (14), Alexa L (12), Jessi O (2), Michaela B (4), Amanda H (2), Cami D (2)

The coaches wanted to give a big thank you to the parents of the girls who played basketball this season. Thank you for sharing your daughters with us for a little while. You should be very proud of them. Although thier hard work did not translate into many wins on the floor, there were many personal accomplishments and successes that came out of this season. Most importantly, we were able to come together as a team and create some great memories!

SPORTS UPDATE – An Exciting Night For The Fighting Eagles in the Eagles Nest

FIGHTING EAGLE FANS… WOW WHAT A NIGHT!!!

Tonight we played the St. Joseph Jayhawks. We played this team a few weeks ago and it was a great and intense game just like the game tonight! The boys were ready to play hard and continued to show everyone that they are the team to beat this year. Before the game tonight we were tied in 1st place for a Region title with 2 other teams- St. Joes and ICS.

JV Game- West Ridge beat the Jayhawks 36 to 31

Tyler B- 10 points
Daniel R- 7 points
Mike H- 8 points
Gavin C- 2 points
Jacob M- 9 points

The JV game tonight was fun to watch. The boys played hard to make the difference up with being short handed due to a few players needing to play in the varsity game tonight and not in the JV game. Tonight was Jacobs first game with the team and he came in strong in the middle to help the team bring home another win.

Varsity Game- West Ridge beat the Jayhawks 66 to 56 in double overtime

Jess M- 17 points
Regan S- 10 points
Will G- 15 points
Levi W- 20 points
Dallin H- 4 points

The Varsity game was a BLAST!!! Going into this game we knew that it was going to be close BUT… not as close as it actually was. The boys never stopped. They continued to run and throw up shots until they pulled the win out in the end. Missing 2 of our starters this game the coaches made a few changes in the game plan. This made players change positions that they have been playing all year but they did a great job! Dallin H came into the game as a starter and he played great defense against the big guy.

Box Scores
Quarter 1 West Ridge 5 St Joes 8
Quarter 2 West Ridge 30 St Joes 28
Quarter 3 West Ridge 40 St Joes 36
Quarter 4 West Ridge 48 St Joes 48
Overtime 1 West Ridge 54 St Joes 54
FInal West Ridge 66 St Joes 56

As you can see the game was close the entire time. Going into overtime the boys were pumped to play and the crowd cheered on the team as loud as they could. With seconds left in overtime West Ridge was up by 2 and one of our players fouled out. Tyler B ran into the game to substitue when West Ridge recieved a technical foul because Tyler was not listed on the roster. Their player made the shots and tied the game up. This meant double overtime. The boys continued to fight and played  quick and confident. With Levi making 2-3 pointers, and free throws made by Regan, Will and Levi we were able to win. What a great game to watch and see the boys work hard to fight until the end.

Congratulation boys!

If you have time please come and support our boys on Friday at ICS to fight for first place. The game times are at 5:30 and 7:00

Thanks for all of your support!

Sports Update – Lady Eagles Can’t Catch The Lynx

Last night the Lady Eagles traveled to Salt Lake Lutheran. This was a big region game for us. Our postseason hopes were hanging in the balance. If we were able to win and then were able to win a coin toss, we would be in the first round of the State Tournament.

The JV game was exciting. We led for most of the game, however, in the fourth quarter we made a couple of bad passes that let to easy layups. Those layups put Salt Lake Lutheran on top and they beat us. The final score of the game was 18 – 15.

We were really excited for the varsity game. Our girls have improved all year and we felt that we had a great chance to win his game. It was not to be however. We jumped out to an early lead, 7 – 5, in the first quarter. The second quarter was a different story however. We were outscored 19 – 3 in that quarter. We were down by 14 at the half. We settled down in the second half, but the deficit was too much to overcome. We made a couple of runs to get back in the game, but we could not get over the hump.

Alexa L.  14
Jessi O.  2
Amanda H. 3

We are proud of our girls. They played hard and stayed positive throughout the game.

Our final game will on Thursday night against St. Joe’s.

SPORTS UPDATE – Boy’s Basketball Tops Christian Heritage On The Road

JV Game~ West Ridge won 37 to 31 against Christian Heritage

The JV game tonight was fun to watch because all of the boys were able to play a great amount of time in the game. The boys have worked hard to improve and you can tell that they are really learning how to play the game and work together as a team.

Varsity Game~ West Ridge won 47 to 39 against Christian Heritage

The boys hustled the whole game and were able to hold the other team. All of our players played GREAT defense and not one of them fouled out. YAHOO!!!! This win was able to place West Ridge in a 3 way tie fighting for first place in our Region. We are tied with St. Joes and ICS which we are scheduled to play in the next week. If you are available to come and watch please come and support our bos in these big games.

It is fun to listen to the boys cheer each other on and support each other in the games. They are working great together and are really trying to help each other strive to do better as an individual and as a team. As coaches we enjoy watching these boys grow and become a family. If are to see the boys in the hallway please congratulate them on a successful season thus far.

SPORTS UPDATE – CHS Visits the Eagle’s Nest

Last night the Lady Eagles hosted the Christian Heritage Crusaders. This is the second time that we have played them this year. The first time that we played them the final score of the Varsity game was 46 – 10. Last night our girls ended up losing both the JV and Varsity games, however we have seen tremendous improvement in our team.

The JV game was one of the most competitive games that our girls have played this year. It was exciting to see the girls run our offense and get some easy layups throught the game as they made hard cuts to the basket and great passes from the high post position.
The final score of the JV game was 31 – 22.

CHS blew our varstiy team outinthe first quarter. The used incredible speed and intensity to overwhelm us. The we did not lose composure throughout the game however and we were able to settle down. The score at the end of the 1st quarter was 25 – 2. Our defense was better in the second half, and St Joe’s shooting percentage went down in the second quarter. At halftime the score was 39 – 6. The 3rd quarter was pretty uneventful. The fourth quarter was great for our girls however. We were able to win that quarter 10 – 1.
The final score of the game was 49 – 18.
We are proud of our girls. They always play hard and never quit, even when the score was lopsided. We are proud to have the opportunity to coach this group of girls.
