Figting Eagle Fans…

Tonights game was intense the whole way through. When we came to the bottom of the 7th inning the score was West Ridge 0 vs Tabiona 0 and at that moment we entered into extra innings. Entering into the 8th inning we were at the top of our lineup. Niels was thrown 4 straight balls and advanced to first base. Tanner then came up to bat and hit an amazing double that scored Niels for the first run of the game. After that our bats came to life and Kevin hit a single to 3rd base. Marc grounded out but had an RBI. Dema and Colby then came to the plate and walked making the bases loaded. Mike came and hit a single to center field and scored 2 more runs. Brendan came to the plate and was pitched 4 balls and advanced to first base. Austin fought hard at the plate but struckout swinging giving West Ridge the second out. Niels came back up to the plate and hit the ball to 3rd base but the 3rd baseman stopped the ball and touched his plate to get Mike out to close the top of the 8th.

Kevin was the pitcher for the whole game and did a great job!!! He had a total of 16 strikeouts and only had 1 hit against him unitl the 8th inning where they muscled up 4 more hits.

The end score of the game was West Ridge Academy 4 vs Tabiona 1

Volleyball- WR @ CHS

We traveled to Ogden again to play the Crusaders.  Before the games I asked the girl’s to give me a 100% tonight.  They showed great hustle and were diving for balls to try and get to them, we had some floor burns and bruises afterwards but I was proud of them for their efforts.  We had some good rallies but struggled with our serve receive again.  I had a dad from CHS come up to me afterwards and tell me that we’re the best West Ridge team he’s seen yet.  We’re working hard to be ready for the region tourney in a month.

JV Games:

CHS 25- WR 6

CHS 25- WR 18

CHS 15- WR 5

Varsity: (Each game we got a little better and made adjustments at returning their serves)

CHS 25- WR 8

CHS 25- WR 17

Fighting Eagle Fans…

Tonights game was against the Christian Heritage Crusaders. The Fighting Eagles came in ready to play hard so they could bring home another win. The team did not have the chance due to Kevin’s outstanding pitching performance in tonights game. KEVIN THREW A NO HITTER. There were 16 batters that came up to the plate from the Crusaders and out of the 16 batters Kevin struck out 14 of them. The only play that was made on the field was from Austin @ 3rd to Marc @ 1st to get the 3rd out in the first inning. The ending score of the game was West Ridge 10 Christian Heritage 0.

We had a total of 15 hits and I have posted below who made those hits happen. Please congratulate the boys on another win.

 Neils-1 double

Tanner- 2 singles and 1 double

Kevin- 1 double

Marc- 1 double and 1 triple

Colby- 1 double

Dema- 1 single and 2 triples

Mike- 2 singles

Mitch- 1 single and 1 triple

Our next game is on Friday against Salt Lake Lutheran. The game will be held at 4:00 at the Lindsey Gardens in Salt Lake. The address to the game is 9th Avenue and M Street.

Volleyball- WR vs Oakley

We’ve been looking forward to playing Oakley.  They’re a boarding school and the only ones in our region that start with a new team each year just like us.  So this is a good way to measure where we’re at.  JV and varsity did better at communicating, passing and serving.  We still have a lot of work to do, but we’re making progress.

JV scores:

WR 25- Oakley 23

WR 25- Oakley 8

WR 15- Oakley 3

In the varsity game Taylor served 19 in a row, which gave us a huge lead.  We went through the entire game without missing a serve! We had some good rallies, and came away with the win!

Varsity scores:

WR 25- Oakley 2

WR 25- Oakley 13

WR 25- Oakley 13

Volleyball- WR @ St Joes

We traveled to Ogden to play St Joe’s tonight.  They’re the best team we’ve played so far.  They’re very experienced and have some tall girls who can hit hard.

The scores of the JV Games:

St Joe’s 25- WR 12

St Joe’s 25- WR 16

St Joe’s 15- WR 6

At one point in the game we were winning 8-7, then a St Joe girl served twelve in a row.  She had a great serve and we couldn’t return it.

Right now our challenge is not only the mechanics but working as a team and the chemistry between the girls.  My hope is that the girls will learn what teamwork and respect are all about.  If we can accomplish that, then we’ve had a successful season.

Varsity games:

St Joe’s 25- WR 3

St Joe’s 25- WR 8

St Joe’s 25- WR 8
