The Wasatch Academy Tigers came to the “Eagles Nest” last night.
We dedicated the game to Dawne, one of our team mates , who had to leave our program early. We’re all going to miss her alot, she was a great influence on our team. We played with a lot of heart. We won our JV match in three straight games.
Taylor served 11 points in a row before they got the side-out and then Kaline added another six points with her serves to jump up on them 17-1 the first game. It was a good team effort by Kelly, Jess, Liz & Kaecia to secure the wins.
JV scores:
West Ridge 25-Wasatch 11
West Ridge 25-Wastach 17
West Ridge 15-Wasatch 12
Our Varsity games were exciting ones. All the games were close and we battled back and forth all night. Lexi led the team in kills and blocks, Taylor led with assists. Bailey had the most serves of the night, only missing 1 out of her 23. Kaecia, Maddie and Carli did a great job with passing.
It was funny, during our second game we were tied 24 to 24. Kaecia served the next ball and when we won that rally everyone ran out onto the court to celebrate, forgetting that we had to win by 2. So Kaecia had to get composed and serve another ball, which they didn’t return. Then we celebrated.
Varsity scores:
West Ridge 25-Wasatch 20
West Ridge 26-Wasatch 24
Wasatch 25-West Ridge 22
West Ridge 25-Wasatch20
We play St Joe’s tonight at our place, JV 5:00 Varsity 6:00

Last night was the best games we’ve played so far. Compared to our first few games we’ve made so much progress not only with their skills but more importantly with their attitudes.
We’ve been working all year on getting along with each other and not being negative. Finally, last night we had some great chemistry on the court, which made it fun. The girl’s came together and encouraged each other even when they messed up. We took them to watch Salt Lake Community College play on Tuesday, and as they watched them I think they were shown what teamwork is all about.
For the most part our communication was better, as well as our serve receive, and they hustled for every ball. We made them earn most of their points as we rallied back and forth, which the final scores don’t reflect. We had one rally where it went back and forth about eight times, so it was pretty exciting when we won that one. I was proud of all of them. The coach from ICS was impressed on how much they had improved since the first time we played them.
We have three weeks before our region tourney, our goal is to be ready for that. We had an additional game that we added to our schedule, Wed Oct 6th Wasatch Academy here at 5:00 & 6:00.
Come and support the Lady Eagles!
