Volleyball Update

Last night we played Mt Vernon.  They only have a
varsity team, but we played our JV team against them the scores were:

WRA 25-MtV 8

WRA 25-MtV 11

WRA 25-MtV 11

Our next game was with Legacy Prep Academy, the last time we
played them we went 5 games and won the fifth so Legacy really wanted it. They
had a few new players this time that had played at 5A schools. They only have
one team and are considered a JV team because it’s their first year of
competing. So this was a good matchup for both of us.

The first game we struggled with serve receive and fell short 25-11.

The second game we played much better winning 25-21.

The third game we got down 7-1 and couldn’t quite catch up
from that, we lost 15-7.

The fourth game we battled again and won 15-12.

The final game, we battled back and forth and had some great
rallies, we were tied at 13-13. I wish you could have seen the intensity
on the court.  Our girls were determined not to let any ball drop. And
they did just that, WINNING 15-13!

It wouldn’t be fair to single any one person out as far as
performance, it was a great team effort.

Our last home game is tomorrow against SLL.  We will be
honoring the seniors at 6:00.  Come cheer the Lady Eagles on!

The coaching staff and the boys should be commended for a great season!

Fighting Eagle Fans…

I wanted to thank you for all of your support during our
baseball season. Our team was extremely happy to see all of the support they
had in last night’s game and it really made a difference to see everyone up in the stands.

A Special…

Thanks to our team therapist Amy W. for helping through all of our games and activities.

Thanks to Mr. Keene for allowing the team to do as many
functions that they did throughout the season.

Thanks to the kitchen for all of the meals and treats they
prepared for the team.

Thanks to the home staff for helping out after each home game.

It was a good run, see ya next season!

The second podcast in this series on pornography addiction, this episode asks the question, “What is the difference between pornography addiction and healthy sexuality?” Eric Allred, LMFT joins Jeff again as they discuss how pornography acts like a drug and causes brain dysfunction.

During the podcast, we mention the symptoms and effects of pornography addiction. The following is a list of these effects based on current research:

  1. Not caring about women/men as real human beings; just thinking of them as objects
  2. Starting to think rape isn’t a serious crime
  3. Having a twisted view of sexuality (thinking of sexuality in unhealthy ways)
  4. Not caring about having a long-term, stable relationship with one person (monogamous relationship)
  5. Thinking your spouse isn’t a good enough sex partner
  6. Beginning to think that marriage isn’t important
  7. Not really caring about having children or raising a family
  8. Thinking it’s normal and natural to have casual sex with many people
  9. Trying out — or wanting to try out — sexual behaviors that aren’t healthy, legal, or natural (these behavior are also called sexually deviant behaviors)
  10. Having a lot of struggles and problems in your close relationships
  11. Thinking rape victims are the ones who are to blame for being raped and that rapists don’t need to be punished for their crimes
  12.  Being much more likely to commit sexual abuse
  13. Becoming sexually aggressive (violent or forceful)
  14. Being more likely to get separated or divorced
  15. Thinking the best sexual relationships are the ones that don’t involve emotional involvement or commitment
  16. Being more likely to cheat on your spouse (emotionally and/or physically)
  17. Being more likely to lose your job or get kicked out of college
  18. Threatening the well-being of children in your home by straining marriage relationships, causing financial burdens, and increasing your children’s risk of being exposed to pornography
  19. Starting to think that explicit or offensive sexual material isn’t that big of a deal (becoming desensitized)
  20. Beginning to think that uncommon or unusual sexual activities (such as group sex or sex with animals) are normal and happen a lot
  21. Losing the trust of those in close relationships
  22. Developing a negative body image (thinking negatively about your body)
  23. Getting wrong information about human sexual behavior
  24. Being more likely to have oral, anal, or group sex
  25. Being more likely to develop compulsive or addictive sexual behavior (in other words, being more likely to lose control over how often and how long you act out sexually)

Fighting Eagle Fans…

Here’s an article that was in the Salt Lake Tribune-

http://www.tribpreps.com/sltrib/tribpreps/52678576-190/hitter-ridge-semifinals-sprout.html.csp

Todays game against Bryce Valley was a success. We beat the Mustangs 10 to 0 and
advanced into the state semi finals on Friday at UVU. The next game
will be at 2:00 against Panguitch at Utah Valley University.

Will S started the game and pitched great for 4 innings then Lincoln M. came in to
close. They both played a big part in the win today.

Our bats were alive as we put the ball in play and came out on top in the 3rd
inning. Our defense was solid as well.

The address to Utah Valley University is:
800 West University Parkway
Orem, UT 84058

Please come and support tthe boys if you can.
