SPORTS UPDATE – Hard Work Pays Off As Lady Eagle’s Win Against Salt Lake Lutheran

Front Line Stops Direct Kick

Last weeks hard work paid off for the Lady Eagle’s on Thursday night. The week and a half between games seemed like forever for us. The girls were anxious to get back on the field.

Heidi B. scored our first goal. It was a slow roller that crept past the Lynx’ goalie. Michaela B. scored a few minutes later. She received the corner kick from Alexa L. and scored from directly in front of the goal. That was all of the scoring for the first half. Our girls came up big by blocking a direct kick that was very close to our goal.

We were able to control the ball most of the second half. Alexa L. scored two goals in the second half.

SPORTS UPDATE – Eagles Improve, But Fall To Meridian

In a game that had four penalty kicks, three for Meridian and one for West Ridge, our boys played very hard and improved a lot.  Meridian got the scoring started about ten minutes into the game.  Dallin H. evened up the score five minutes later when he scored off of a pass from Levi W.  A few minutes later we got called for a foul in the goal box and they got their first penalty kick of the day.  Colby P. came up big and made a great save and swatted the ball out of bounds.  Only ten minutes later we fouled Meridian again in the goal box and this time they scored.  Meridian added one more to end the half.  West Ridge came out fired up to begin the second half and Dallin H. scored his second goal of the game five minutes into the half.  Meridian answered a few minutes later scoring again to make the score 4-2.  We then had a few more opportunities to score with Levi W. and Dallin H. missing wide of the goal and Jacob Mc. missing a nice header over the top of the goal.  Meridian got one more penalty kick and put it away to end the scoring at 5-2.

The boys played hard and improved a lot.

Thanks for your support.

SPORTS UPDATE – An Exciting Night For The Fighting Eagles in the Eagles Nest

FIGHTING EAGLE FANS… WOW WHAT A NIGHT!!!

Tonight we played the St. Joseph Jayhawks. We played this team a few weeks ago and it was a great and intense game just like the game tonight! The boys were ready to play hard and continued to show everyone that they are the team to beat this year. Before the game tonight we were tied in 1st place for a Region title with 2 other teams- St. Joes and ICS.

JV Game- West Ridge beat the Jayhawks 36 to 31

Tyler B- 10 points
Daniel R- 7 points
Mike H- 8 points
Gavin C- 2 points
Jacob M- 9 points

The JV game tonight was fun to watch. The boys played hard to make the difference up with being short handed due to a few players needing to play in the varsity game tonight and not in the JV game. Tonight was Jacobs first game with the team and he came in strong in the middle to help the team bring home another win.

Varsity Game- West Ridge beat the Jayhawks 66 to 56 in double overtime

Jess M- 17 points
Regan S- 10 points
Will G- 15 points
Levi W- 20 points
Dallin H- 4 points

The Varsity game was a BLAST!!! Going into this game we knew that it was going to be close BUT… not as close as it actually was. The boys never stopped. They continued to run and throw up shots until they pulled the win out in the end. Missing 2 of our starters this game the coaches made a few changes in the game plan. This made players change positions that they have been playing all year but they did a great job! Dallin H came into the game as a starter and he played great defense against the big guy.

Box Scores
Quarter 1 West Ridge 5 St Joes 8
Quarter 2 West Ridge 30 St Joes 28
Quarter 3 West Ridge 40 St Joes 36
Quarter 4 West Ridge 48 St Joes 48
Overtime 1 West Ridge 54 St Joes 54
FInal West Ridge 66 St Joes 56

As you can see the game was close the entire time. Going into overtime the boys were pumped to play and the crowd cheered on the team as loud as they could. With seconds left in overtime West Ridge was up by 2 and one of our players fouled out. Tyler B ran into the game to substitue when West Ridge recieved a technical foul because Tyler was not listed on the roster. Their player made the shots and tied the game up. This meant double overtime. The boys continued to fight and played  quick and confident. With Levi making 2-3 pointers, and free throws made by Regan, Will and Levi we were able to win. What a great game to watch and see the boys work hard to fight until the end.

Congratulation boys!

If you have time please come and support our boys on Friday at ICS to fight for first place. The game times are at 5:30 and 7:00

Thanks for all of your support!
